HAS OVER 30 YEARS OF FARMING WISDOM ON OFFER.

Peter Randall is getting ready to pass on the regenerative management of the farm.

We are looking for a share farmer who is interested in becoming a farm manager. Other role options include an experienced farm manager who would be able to work closely with ORICoop (Organic and Regenerative Investment Cooperative). Which could lead into a permanent position and owning equity in the farm.

We need someone to help with the farm/mechanical duties, and who wants to learn how to grow rice, oats and lamb sustainably and how to process rice and oats.

We are taking expressions of interest until the end of December 2022.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

This is a rare chance to “learn on the job” to become an organic farmer and potentially become the farm manager or share farmer with potential to buy equity in the farm.
 

With 450 acres of irrigation ready land and over 1000ML of water licenses, the missing ingredient is a motivated farming family who are looking for a long term future in the organic industry.

Who should apply?

Preferably a farming couple with experience in organic farming, but willing to work with:

 

  • Young couples with conventional farming experience, who want to go organic.

  • Young farming couples with minimal experience.

  • An Individual with a university or tertiary education who has experience with organic farming or conventional farming experience and wanting to become an organic farmer.

  • Someone who is mature and with a university education or applicable tertiary education;​

 

The business has been operated as a two person partnership, and has one full-time staff member.

Key Role and Responsibilities:

The role could include the following:

​

  1. Liaise with Peter day to day, regarding requirements and tasks.

  2. Ensure workplace health and safety standards are adhered to.

  3. Work independently, and as part of a small family team.

  4. Undertake work including tractor driving, irrigation, crop preparation and harvest.

  5. Capacity to assist with grain processing and packaging as required.

  6. Safely operate and maintain mill and farm equipment.

  7. Ensure daily farming requirements are completed.

  8. Keeping basic farm and processing records and possibly managing farm accounts.

The role structure will be dependent on the candidates chosen.

Selection Criteria:

 The applicant must be practical, positive, optimistic, willing to learn, honest, good at communicating, work well with livestock, hard-working and passionate about regenerative organic farming.

Some selection criteria:

​

  • Current Driver's License essential.

  • Applicable VISA to work in Australia long-term.

  • A willingness to be a proactive and positive team member.

  • Ability to take direction and report on delivery of tasks.

  • Ability to work outside and in rough terrain.
